James Chapple holds dual professional qualifications that very few surveyors in the North East can match — full Chartership with the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and Associate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS). His surveys are different because his background is different: he has not just surveyed buildings — he has built, project-managed, specified and renovated them across more than 500 projects spanning London and the North East.

James holds a BA (Hons) from Southampton University, and began his career renovating Victorian and Georgian homes in London, where he built a reputation designing and managing loft conversions, side returns and high-specification renovation projects. He later ran the construction and lettings division of a property investment fund before moving to the North East in 2006. After more than 15 years working in the construction industry, James returned to study as a postgraduate at Northumbria University, completing his coursework in Building Surveying and gaining a Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) — following which he was awarded Chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and Associate membership of RICS (AssocRICS).

James has since earned full Chartership with the Chartered Institute of Building — awarded following involvement in over 500 construction and surveying projects throughout his career. Today, NE Property Consultants provides independent building surveying, construction consultancy, defect rectification assessment, measured surveys and development appraisals across the North East and beyond.
